We're back. After a slow May when all it seemed we could do was finish second, the stable is back in the buffet line. Frisky Thunder returned from his winter hiatus with a gallant score in a tough $42,000 feature at Delaware Park on Wednesday.

Owned and bred by Braeburn Farm, the 7-year-old veteran responded to Sheldon Russell's cues, settling in second off the pace of a wild longshot and then staved off all comers to win by a half length. Sent off at 10-1, Frisky picked up his ninth career victory (from 28 starts) and gave the stable win number 21 for the year.

The Virginia-bred veteran has added class and spark to the stable since coming here from my friend, the late, great Jimmy Murphy who was a mainstay in Maryland racing for many, many years. Hopefully, he'll continue to have a productive summer with turf spots at Colonial Downs, synthetic opportunities at Presque Isle . . . and more trips up I-95 to Delaware Park.

Cool horse. He made his career debut at Calder in 2006, he's run in 10 stakes and he's earned $328,353 in his career.
